Last night I decided to see American Hustle with a few friends. It was a movie I had been wanting to see and since it was $5 Movie Tuesday at Sycamore Theatres in Iowa City, I decided to make the trip. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed! The movie is full of amazing actors including Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.

Movie Review
American Hustle is a fictional film set in the fascinating world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation. It tells the story of a brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner in crime Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), who is forced to work for  FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes the limits and sends them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down.

This movie has been nominated for 7 Golden Globes, including Best Picture. I highly recommend seeing this film. Although, If you are like me and don’t enjoy spending $30 on a movie (including tickets, a popcorn and pop), wait until it comes out on Redbox or check your local movie theatre for special deals.

If you happen to live in the Iowa City area, check out Sycamore Theatres on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Tuesdays are $5 movies and a free 44oz popcorn, and on Thursday’s, it is $5 Student Night! Any movies worth seeing? Let me know in a comment below!

Until Next Time,

Jessica M.
